"Beacon" Artwork at Margaret River Senior High School

Jon Tarry's, Beacon Artwork, integrated seamlessly with the architectural design by With_Architecture Studio. Tarry approached Light Application to fit Beacon with a lighting solution to make the artwork come alive at night.

Our team supplied and programmed the decorative lighting which consists of 7 lengths of pureLED Flexi Addressable LED Strip Blue mounted horizontally, leading up to and framing the end of the corridor. The effect is a stunning blue glow signally outwards, giving the revamped Margaret River SHS a beautiful, night presence.

Tarry wanted to bring a sense of the surrounding environment, flow and energy that is Margaret River to this piece so our technician programmed slow movements and changes in brightness and saturation to replicate the flow of water and waves. Control of the lighting system is via a series of pureLED DMX SPI converters connected over two DMX universes to control levels of saturation and brightness in a series of animated and static shows via a Color Kinetics iPlayer 3. Scheduling is flexible, allowing for a combination of switch on/off times, regular shows and show transitions according to specific times and dates.
