When national hotel chain Mantra began construction of its high profile, nightlife focused venue, Peppers Kings Square, it trusted Light Application to supply, support and program the façade lighting extending fifty metres into the Perth City skyline.
The elaborate display features vibrant colour and exciting animation in the earlier parts of the evening to attract patrons to the bar in the evening, transitioning gradually into a calmer, subtler palette with subdued motion as guests begin to make their way to bed for the night.
The advanced control system automatically adjusts switch on and off times throughout the year as the sunrise and sunset times change, saving energy, increasing the lifespan of the system and creating maximum visual impact. Multiple event shows trigger automatically, with three different shows playing every week on weeknights, Friday night and weekend nights, all with different scheduled timing and animation content. A number of yearly events are also automated to play including a Christmas show throughout December, an Australia Day green and gold palette, and a spectacular New Year’s Eve countdown scheduled for the last 30 seconds of the year.
The system includes 150 lengths of full colour PureLED FlexTube, mounted vertically in a grid formation and driven by a series of multi-channel PureLED DMX dimmers located on each floor. The heart of the system is via Philips Color Kinetics iPlayer 3 which provides the show content and scheduling features.
