The Precinct

This spectacular piece by Rick Vermey adorns the façade of the prestigious and high-profile development, The Precinct, on Canning Highway in Mount Pleasant.

The series of diamond shapes alternate inward facing and outward facing peaks of varying depth to create the perception of a sine wave traversing the length of the artwork. Light Application worked closely with fabricators DENMAC, builder BGC, electrical contractor Lindquist and with the artist Rick Vermey to design a lighting solution to bring the piece alive at night and add colour and movement. 2000 ColorKinetics Flex LMX nodes are used, one fixed in the base of each peak illuminating the surface above.

A Pharos Controls VLC 50 coordinates the seven unique light shows, developed in-house with Rick Vermey, to mirror the sinusoidal pattern built into the physical structure an abstract interpretation of the rippling of the Swan River. Advanced remote control and monitoring functions via Pharos Cloud allow for the team to keep a close eye on the system and ensure everything is running smoothly from anywhere in the world.
