| The new Museum of Islamic Art, Qatar is a truly inspirational building. Designed by I.M. Pei of the award winning New York architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed and Partners, the museum will have over 5,000 square meters of exhibition space available, in addition to generous education, conservation and presentation areas. |
||
The museum, due for completion later this year is being entirely controlled by the Dynalite lighting control system, with over 1300 circuits of dimming, switching and a complex array of DMX512 controlled fittings. Dynalite’s unique “Dynet” network control, allows up to 65,000 devices on a single network, and contributed significantly to them winning this prestigious internationally fought after project. The Museum will in time join forces with four other national museums which will be built in the Doha Harbour area. Dynalite have also created a sophisticated “Track fixture location system” especially for the project. Traditionally, track mounted fixtures have posed a problem for any Lighting control software, as they are so frequently and easily added, moved or removed. |

Dynalite’s
new system has the fixture itself report its status and actual physical
location on the multitude of track’s. This information is interpreted
by Dynalite’s DLightIII Mapview software, allowing the end user
to adjust each fitting's multiple channels, intensity, focus, colour and
direction via a wireless touch screen with full graphical layout of the
gallery or areas in question. Energy management, lamp burn times, circuit
breaker status, lighting levels, day light levels, presence detection,
etc are all being interpreted and reported back to the client in a useful
format by the Dynalite software and overall control system. |
